Ssangyong E&C announced on January 2 that it appointed Kim Ki-myung, CEO of Global Sae-A, as its new CEO. The current Chairman and CEO S. Joon Kim has resigned from his position as CEO but will remain as the company’s Chairman.

Kim will serve as CEO of both Global Sae-A and Ssangyong E&C. In 1983, he started his corporate career at Swire & Maclaine, a foreign trading company. In 1995, he moved to Walmart and worked as President of Walmart Korea. In the 2000s, he served as CEO of In The F, President of Sae-A Trading America Corp. and other roles. Kim is considered an expert in the fields of accounting, finance and HR management.

Ssangyong E&C also named Kim In-soo, the former leader of Hyundai E&C’s Global Business Center (GBC) project, as its new President. During his time at Hyundai, Kim had long been involved in the GBC project, including the originally planned (but later abandoned) construction of the GBC in Seongsu-dong, Seoul. Since his retirement in 2021, he has served as an advisor for Hyundai E&C and has now agreed to serve as President of Ssangyong E&C.

The company also brought in Shim Chul-shik, Vice President of Sae-A Trading, as its new Head of Business Support Headquarters. Shim will serve in both positions concurrently.
