Anniversary ceremony held in 17th.. Emphasis on "cultivating global talent"
Ssangyong E&C, celebrating its fourth decade, made a commitment to rebuild its reputation as a global construction powerhouse.
Ssangyong E&C announced on the 18th that it held a small event celebrating its establishment 40 years ago. The event was held on the 17th, just before the construction firm's 40th anniversary.
Chairman & CEO S. Joon Kim, employees and officers of corporate headquarters and Seoul metropolitan area sites attended the ceremony held on the 17th. Chairman & CEO Kim commended long-term employees for their service and urged them to focus on cultivating global talent.
Mr. Kim has been encouraging employees in overseas sites and branches since he took office as president of Ssangyong E&C in 1983. At the ceremony, Chairman & CEO Kim emphasized, "we must strengthen our competitiveness in key markets such as Dubai and Singapore and make efforts to cultivate global talent."
Ssangyong E&C is concentrating its efforts on restoring its reputation as a 'global construction powerhouse,' focusing on overseas orders in 2015 after its acquisition by the Investment Corporation of Dubai (ICD).
Currently, Ssangyong E&C has earned $ 1.5 billion in revenue through five projects in Dubai alone, including the Royal Atlantis Hotel. In Singapore, the company received orders for the subway construction area TEL 308 and Forest Woods condominium projects.
In particular, Ssangyong E&C has been awarded the grand prize by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) for the firm&rsquos achievements in the TEL 308 site, in recognition of the 10 years of accident free construction.
In Korea, Ssangyong E&C expanded its business by specializing in legacy apartment remodeling business. Ssangyong E&C has completed its first full-scale remodeling project in Korea and has been ranked number one in the remodeling sector, with a cumulative order of 10,000 households.
A company official said, "we are planning to concentrate on winning a good number of projects as the number of the remodeling conversion complexes is increasing recently." He added, &ldquoif we win the Daelim apartment project in Jeongbong-dong, which is scheduled to be decided by the end of this year, we expect to surpass the 10,000 household mark for the first time in the industry."
