Ssangyong E&C wins village redevelopment work in Masan

Ssangyong E&C, together with Shinsung (Equity stake of 55:45), was selected as the contractor for the village redevelopment work for Gyobang-dong, Gyowon-dong, and Seongho-dong in Masan.

The work is designed to build an apartment complex comprised of sixteen 28-story buildings for a total of 1,189 households (See the following.) in the 27,454-pyeong (=22 acre) site.

▲ 69 units of 16-pyeong (=53 ㎡) apartments, ▲ 74 units of 24-pyeong (=79 ㎡), ▲ 92 units of 30-pyeong (99 ㎡), ▲ 33평형 192 units of 33-pyeong (=109 ㎡), ▲ 384 units of 34-pyeong (112 ㎡), ▲ 40평형 46 households of 40-pyeong (132 ㎡), ▲ 100 units of 45-pyeong (=148 ㎡), ▲ 92 units of 48-pyeong (=158 ㎡), ▲ 96 units of 52-pyeong (=172 ㎡), and ▲ 44 units of 63-pyeong (208 ㎡).

Existing residents will start moving out in August 2008, and the construction work will commence July 2009 and will be completed in June 2012.

Kim Yu-geun, the representative for the residents, said, “We finally succeeded in getting the redevelopment work started, despite many difficulties in the early phases due to different priorities and aims among the residents in the three dongs.”

The area is close to the Namhae Highway, Masan Station, Kyungnam University, Happo High School, Euisin Girls’ Middle School, Seongho/Gyobang Elementary Schools, Masan City Hall, the Court, Daewoo Department Store, and Burim Market. It is expected that the newly redevelopment villages will become a leading residential site in Masan.

A Ssangyong E&C official said, “Our experience in large-scale apartment redevelopment projects in Seoul and Busan helped us win this project. With the effects of the Urban and Residential Environment Refurbishment Act, it is expected that the work to refurbish existing villages will be carried out in a way integrating multiple villages into one.”
