Ssangyong E&C Receives RoSPA Golden Award for Eleven Consecutive Years

2018-10-12

Ssangyong E&C reported on October 11 that the company’s Singapore Forest Woods Condominium project site received the Gold Award at the prestigious Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) Awards ceremony held recently in Glasgow, Scotland.

Based on its assessment of industrial sites worldwide, the UK’s Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) grants the award to a builder that has achieved a remarkable feat in terms of health and safety. In 2015, Ssangyong E&C received the Gold Award from the Society for the fifth time in a row for the Singapore Downtown Line Stage 2 Site 921 construction project. Since 2008, the company has received a RoSPA Award for eleven consecutive years, accumulating an impressive 22 awards from the British organization.

City Developments Limited (CDL) in Singapore awarded the Forest Woods Condominium project to Ssangyong E&C to construct 519 units across seven buildings at a cost of USD 82 million (KRW 100 billion). In June, the site accumulated one million accident-free man hours of construction. And in July, it received a Safety and Health Award Recognition for Projects (SHARP) Award from the Workplace Safety and Health Advisory Committee (WSHAC) under Singapore’s Ministry of Manpower, a feat achieved by no other Korean construction company.

“Our company has accumulated over 65 million accident-free man hours of construction in Singapore alone, and over 140 million hours on construction sites around the globe, thereby setting new world records for accident-free man hours of construction,” an employee of Ssangyong E&C said. “We are determined to maintain our strong foothold as a leading global construction company, based not only on our exclusive construction technologies but also on outstanding safety management capabilities.”
