Horizontal Extension Will Add New Building to Existing One

Total Units Will Jump from 225 to 254

Ssangyong E'C announced on September 30 that it had secured a remodeling contract for the Sindap Geukdong Apartment in Dongdaemun-gu, Seoul. The client held a general meeting on September 29 to a contractor, where 151 out of the 175 housing co-op members voted for Ssangyong E'C.

Originally completed in 1987, this 225-unit apartment complex consists of two 15-story buildings. After horizontal remodeling, where a new building will be attached to an existing one, the complex will feature 254 units (including 29 units for general presale) in two apartment buildings (3B/15F). The three underground floors will have parking lots, which will increase the number of parking spaces from 103 to 314. The top floor will feature a Sky Community for residents, a communal facility overlooking the Cheonggyecheon Stream. Some units will be designed in such a way to accommodate independent living by two households, thereby allowing for partial rentals and income generation. Furthermore, the exclusive usage area of each unit will increase by 20 to 30 percent.

"Originally, we considered a vertical expansion, but that would require two safety inspections which would delay the project. So, we decided to go for horizontal expansion and remodeling," said Seung Ryeol Jang, representative of the housing co-op. "We hope that Ssangyong E'C's exclusive expertise will transform ours into a premium apartment complex with convenient access to subway stations."

With this new remodeling project, Ssangyong E'C has reached the 10,000-unit mark in terms of remodeling, maintaining its status as the industry leader. "Going forward, we will focus our energy on apartment complex remodeling projects in diverse regions, including first-phase new towns and areas along the Hangang River," noted Se Hyeong Choi, leader of Ssangyong E'C's PR Team.
