[Seoul, Yunhap Informax reporter Hong Kyung Pyo] Investment Corporation of Dubai (ICD) has announced in the board meeting that they are planning to see to it that Ssangyong E&C becomes the biggest construction company in the Middle-East. A green light is on for Ssangyong E&C, since the Mayor of Dubai, who is one of the board of directors, asked Ssangyong to participate in big size construction projects in development and transportation field.

According to the construction field, in the board of director’s meeting for Ssangyong E&C held in Dubai on the 7th of March this year, their major plan is to make Ssangyong E&C as the biggest company in the Middle-East.

ICD suggested to make Ssangyong E&C, a hub for connecting three countries, Korea, Dubai, and Singapore, in the next 3 years’ prospectus for development.
Ssangyong E&C was taken over by ICD in January last year, and on its way to restart after graduating the revival process. Investment Corporation of Dubai (ICD) is a National Fund of Dubai whom with the asset reaching 217 billion dollars with the affiliates in the field of real estate, finance, airline and energy.

Ssangyong E&C had to go through a difficult time with work-outs and national project financing in the revival process. However, with the enough experience that the company stacked throughout its history, Ssangyong E&C is once again getting ready to soar once more with the help of ICD.

The mayor of Dubai asked Ssangyong E&C to participate in the upcoming development, transportation, and port construction, as well as the Dubai Expo of 2020

In this meeting, every members of board of directors came including ICD’s director and Kim Suk Jun, the Chairman of Ssangyong E&C.

Through this meeting, Ssangyong E&C gained two very important opportunity ICD’s full support, and additional contracts from Dubai.

With the overseas networks and high-tech construction methods, Ssangyong E&C has won contract of more than 1.6 billion dollars including the construction of Royal Atlantis Hotel.

Grand construction projects that represent Ssangyong E&C include Marina Bay Sands Hotel of Singapore, and State Tower of Namsan in Korea.
Marina Bay Sands Hotel is famous for 3 hotel buildings that are slanted 52 degrees and the sky park at 200 meters above ground. Ssangyong E&C won the contract for the hotel in 2007 with 880 million dollars which was the most expensive overseas contract ever.

“We will focus on the luxurious building constructions as well as high tech civil engineering projects as a hub that connects 3 countries, Dubai, Singapore and Korea”, said the official of Ssangyong E&C.
