Ssangyong E&C wins the top prize in the civil engineering category for Singapore Construction Award
Ssangyong E&C's Marina Coastal Highway construction bring the company a grand prize. Experts highly valued the safe construction above weak foundation.

[AJU economy, reporter Hyunchul.Baek] - Ssangyong E&C won the top prize in the civil engineering category in the Singapore Construction Award (BCA Awards) for the construction of Marina Coastal Highway
This is notable since it is Ssangyong E&C's 28th award in Singapore which is the most awards won by a Korean company.

Although the total length of the construction was only about 1 kilometer, each meter of construction was 820 million won, total construction cost of up to 820 billion won. This was because the construction of the highway under the unstable landfill site required much developed and high tech construction methods. For the construction of the underground highway, Ssangyong E&C made reinforcing structure by spraying 10~20m of special type of cement 15m beneath the landfill, and 1350 piles that were 1-2 meters in diameter, 75 meters in length were planted throughout the highway.

Super beam technique was introduced for the first time in Singapore, which was a construction method that utilized artificial wall and crossbeams to spread out enormous pressure throughout the curved section with the maximum width of 120 meters.
A spokesman of Ssangyong E&C said that it was reassured that the company has the best-in-the-world construction ability in civil engineering & high class constructions, and it is also meaningful to reach 10 million accident-free man hours in such a difficult, high tech construction site.

Singapore Construction Award is considered a high prestige award that Singapore Construction Agency gives. It evaluates projects that are completed or are in progress under 10 categories of constructability, environment-friendliness, design, safety, quality, etc.
