As record-high temperatures and extreme summer heat continue to affect the entire country, Ssangyong E&C Chairman and CEO S. Joon Kim visited local project sites to examine on-site safety and health management, according to a statement released by the company on August 6, 2018.

Between July 31 and August 2, 2018, Chairman Kim visited eight of the company’s major project sites across the greater Seoul area and the Gyeongsangnam-do region via the KTX and SRT high-speed trains. His visit was to examine safety and health management at the construction sites to ensure the prevention of heat-related illnesses and safety accidents caused by the extreme weather conditions as well as to extend encouragements to employees hard at work in the blistering heat. He also personally inspected the conditions of rest facilities and ice-making equipment in place for on-site employees.

Ssangyong E&C has also implemented guidelines for site operations under extreme heat wave conditions, which ensure that employees take frequent and regular “heat” breaks and are provided with protective gear such as ice vests and cooling scarves as well as supplements and refreshments such as sodium chloride tables, ice and ice water to mitigate the impact of extreme heat and prevent heat-related illnesses.
