2018-08-01

In the Safety and Health Award Recognition for Projects (SHARP) Awards ceremony hosted by the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) of Singapore on July 31, 2018, Ssangyong E&C was honored for outstanding safety and health management at the construction site for the Forest Woods Condominium, according to a statement released by the company on August 1, 2018.

This year’s award marks the twentieth time Ssangyong E&C has received the honor since 2010, a clear recognition of the excellence of the company’s safety and health management capability that rivals few in Singapore. The company also set itself apart by becoming the only Korean construction company to receive the honor.

Organized and managed by the Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) Council, an affiliate of the MOM, the SHARP Awards are the country’s highest honor in safety and health bestowed on businesses and organizations that deliver outstanding performance in the assessment conducted on all business sites in Singapore based on the safety and health standard prescribed by the MOM.

City Developments Limited (CDL) awarded the Forest Woods Condominium project to Ssangyong E&C in 2016 to construct 519 units across seven buildings at USD 82 million.

“With workplace accidents increasing both in scale and in frequency across the world, safety and health management has become one of the core capabilities required by construction companies to win a large-scale project,” said an executive from Ssangyong E&C on the growing importance of safety and health management.

“Our superior capabilities in safety and health management will help us maintain our dominance in overseas construction,” he added, expressing Ssangyong E&C’s confidence in this area.
