ICAK Announces International Awards for Ssangyong E&C and Other Major Contractors

2019-02-01

Korean construction companies are continuing to reinforce their global competitiveness while being recognized for their expertise in high-tech construction, safety management, eco-friendliness and other areas.

The International Contractors Association of Korea (ICAK) has undertaken a survey and recently announced details of the construction awards (and other relevant achievements) won by Korean contractors in 2018 from foreign governments, clients and other international stakeholders.

In the case of Ssangyong E&C, the company has, over the years, received awards in diverse categories, including construction and safety management, in its main market Singapore. More specifically, it has won Singapore’s Building and Construction Authority (BCA) Award a total of 30 times (including the BCA Award 2018), a record among Korean contractors.

Moreover, Ssangyong E&C has become the only Korean company to receive the Safety and Health Award Recognition for Projects (SHARP) award, a prestigious credential conferred by Singapore’s Ministry of Manpower, highlighting its world-class safety management capability.

“[Ssangyong E&C] has been highly recognized by foreign governments and clients for its state-of-the-art construction capability, superior technical expertise, thorough safety management and other strengths,” said an ICAK official. “These awards will serve as a driving force that will help the company secure more foreign projects.”
